So, yesterday's patch notes for The Repopulation were a joke. They had a few good ideas in them that I hope they revisit (I do want my own botanical garden...) in the future. They have now released the real patch notes for what they worked on during the month of March, and while you really should read them on their own, we can glean a few things from a few of them that may become new information about the game. Keep in mind, I am merely presenting them and then making assumptions based on what I believe them to mean. I could be wrong, I have been before.
The weather system has improved for better rain support. Noticeable improvements include better sky and cloud blending, as well as more noticeable wind effects and sound.
Emphasis mine. Unlike other MMOGs who's environments are constantly sunny and never change, this game is set to have environments that rain, and thusly also maybe do other things, like snow. It means that variables can potentially be used to change your play experience. This can only be good, and should provide some good immersion.
Numerous new achievements have been created. This includes a variety of categories including Exploration, Reputation and Combat.
So, there will be an achievements system in this game.
New diving suits have been added.
So, this means that not only will you have a reason to go underwater, you might have a reason to *stay* underwater for long periods of time or that there might be reasons to use specific gear for fighting underwater as opposed to on land. I wonder what that means?
Many new types of furniture items were added. This includes showcases, pillars, cabinets, gardens, tables, chairs, sofas, bars and work stations.
The word "garden" implies being able to decorate *outside* of your home, to me. Also, "Work stations" could (probably?) means that you can use them to craft items better as opposed to crafting while not using one. It also implies being able to craft work stations, like you could do in another certain MMO.
Added cascading chat bubbles. These will now stack into new bubbles rather than combining multiple inputs into a single large bubble. Each bubble will burst one at a time. Clicking on any of the individual bubbles will cause them to go away.
A certain other MMO promised chat bubbles at launch, and never delivered because they "caused technical problems". That other MMO was using the Hero engine, same as The Repopulation. Either that other MMO wasn't telling the whole truth, or they fixed the problem in the Hero Engine. Also, they want to include chat bubbles, for those to whom it matters.
And for the last two I'm interested in highlighting this month, which is definitely new news:
- You can now properly mount into both driver and passenger slots in vehicles.
- Added a two passenger transportation vehicle.
Multi-passenger vehicles are in game. Nothing stopping them from adding vehicles that can carry more than two people, except priorities. That's interesting, wouldn't you say?
