Web game of the week: Wilt - Last Blossom

This week I take a quick look at a post apocalyptic adventure platformer, with nostalgic music and fun gameplay. It was one of the top rated games on Newgrounds.com so how could I resist? I might even look at the sequel!

Wilt - Last Blossom is a post apocalyptic side scrolling game of adventure. The story isn't too clear, but there is this radioactive "sludge" that kills everything and anything or transforms it into a monstrosity. As a father, you only live for your daughter in this horrific world, but miraculously she is immune to the affects of this "sludge".

When you go to get her some food you only come back to see a mysterious man in a HAZMAT (chemical) suit take your daughter and shoot you unconscious in the process. Your task is to get your daughter back.

Ships, caves and underwater environments with a stormy backdrop give the game a real sense of atmosphere. As you go along you learn all sorts of skills, from the classic double jump to melee attacks and power attacks. Being a more traditional platformer, it is of course linear. But if ever in doubt, then click the question mark at the bottom right to get an idea of what you are meant to do. Your adventures will make your path cross with characters that need your help.

The music and sound effects are also a nice addition and bring back a feeling of nostalgia, even for a kid like me who doesn't have too many memories of these times.

The story and the environment makes it a casually fun game to play and a fun world to explore!
